true love, does it exist?

The love story of Antony and Cleopatra touch my little heart. As I believe that love need sacrifices, I think that what Antony and Cleopatra had done for each other is real love. They are willing to risk their lives in order to prove their true love for each other. Although I am not totally agree with Antony’s action to marry another woman although he knows that he is totally in love with Cleopatra. By willing to die for the sake of the other party (the loved one) it shows that their love is true and beautiful. As a human being, I do love a true love story and that is why I keep reading the play in order to know their tragic love story.

30 Days of September; a critical issue

In the play “30 Days in September”, one major issue that is brought up by the playwright is the issue of child sexual abuse. The protagonist of the play, Mala and also her mother Shanti faced the problem of being sexually molested by one man which is Mala’s uncle and also Shanta’s brother, Vinay. The tragedy affected Mala badly. She has become a girl who cannot love a guy. She only wanted the pleasure of sexual but not loves. Although sexual pleasure is pain for her, she cannot escape from being ‘used’ by man. This is the psychological effect of being sexually molested by her uncle. As for her mother, the tragedy had made her a woman who cannot sexually satisfy her own husband. Her husband left her for another woman and claimed that Shanta is a ‘frozen woman’. As a way escapism from the pain and suffer that she felt, Shanta make herself lost in the world of God. By being a good servant to the God, she felt nothing; no pain, no pleasure. From the play, I can see that a girl who is sexually abused will faced a traumatic life for a very long time as long as no help is given to her.

sister's duty?

In “Streetcar Named Desire” I notice that Blance is bossy sister and wanted Stella to listen to her and not to her husband, Stanley. Although she is shown as a sister who is bossy and try to control her little sister, I sometimes felt that what Blance is doing is only for the good of Stella. As an older sister myself, sometimes I tried to protect my sister from getting hurt. Same as Blance who thought that Stella’s husband, Stanley, is hurting her and he does not respect her as his wife. But one thing that escapes Blance advice is that she forgets that Stella loves that man (her husband) and Stanley also loves her dearly but the way he shows his love is different. That is why I think that Blance decision to advice her little sister about her marriage is because she loves her dearly and she does not want Stella to get hurt.

does my friends' evaluation good for me?

First and foremost I do think that my friends’ evaluations on my simulated teaching do help me improve my performance. This is because their constructive evaluation can help me notice my mistakes when I conduct my simulated teaching. As a typical human being, I cannot detect my own mistakes unless others tell me so. There is where my friends’ evaluations play their part. Through their evaluation I can understand where my mistakes are and how I could improve my performance next time I do simulated teaching.

Moreover, their constructive comments and evaluations, helps me gain my confidence and notice where my strong point in conducting the simulated teaching is. By knowing my own strong point, I know that some how I have what it takes to teach in class. This increases my level of confidence more. It is really important for me to gain confidence in conducting simulated teaching. This is because; I want to be a teacher that is good and able to conduct a good teaching method in class. My friends’ evaluations help me one step further on becoming a good teacher.

In conclusion, by having my friends to evaluate my simulated teaching, I could improve my performance of becoming a good teacher. Plus, I also gain more important point on improving my performance next time.

what i think of evaluating my friends' simulated teaching.

As a future teacher, I do need to learn how to evaluate others' works so that I could have the ability to evaluate my future students' works properly. However, when it comes to evaluating my friends' simulated teaching, it is very difficult to me. This is because I was unable to focus on her simulated teaching due to the fact that I am busy writing some evaluation notes on her teaching. This does not help my friends much because they need all cooperation from all of us to focus on her lesson and give participation in class as students.

Moreover, I do think that it is hard to evaluate my friends’ simulated teaching because giving some judgment on my friends’ performances gives me such a headache. This is because my relationship with them does play a major part when I am evaluating. This is probably because I do not want to hurt their feelings by giving some bad evaluation. This makes me realize that I am not very professional when conducting evaluation. Plus, it also makes me realize that when evaluating others’ works I need to give more constructive words rather than judgment on the performance.

As a whole, I do think that evaluating my friends’ simulated teaching is hard. However, I does teach me some valuable points on evaluation.

i need more practise....

i am a bit disappointed with my performance in my simulated teaching last week...
i am sad because i did not do well in the simulated teaching. miss Baiti said that my point and the theme of "Oedipus Rex" is suitable but i cannot tell the student the theme after the set induction. however i need to let student to identify it themselves after the pre-reading. moreover, although i give my point during the simulated teaching, i cannot give student the representation of my objects to the theme of the play. i uses a stone and a piece of paper for my set induction and both of them represent 'fate' and 'human'. miss baiti said that i need to let student identify the representation of both object by themselves. i can only direct them to the right representation by giving some clues about the representation. now i know that i need to learn more on teaching skills. and i believe that someday i will be a good teacher just like all my lecturers...

doing a simulated teaching...

last time when i take the course teaching the language of short stories, i had my fist experience with simulated teaching. now in the course teaching the language of drama, i also have to do simulated teaching. actually my first accounter with simulated teaching was not a good one. i was scared to death on going in front and try to teach something in front of my coursemate. but due to the fact that i have known all of them more than 3 years, the experience was not that bad. as time goes by, i know that sooner or later i will accounter the simulated teaching again. in the tutotial class with miss baiti8, i have to do a simple simulated teaching on teaching the theme of oedipus rex. it is not that hard because miss baiti just want us to do some simple activities on set induction and pre reading. and what an relieve that miss baiti just want us to do the procedure not the paperwork!! how nice of her...
